Individual Therapy

Adoptees often navigate challenges that biological children do not have to face. Separation from our biological families and growing up in a different family affects us all in different ways and in different times in our lives. At some point you may find yourself wanting extra support with understanding your story, practicing self care/love, or sharing your truths with your families and friends – I know I did!

During therapy, we will work together to heal past trauma and grow your coping skills. Here is a list of possible reasons an adoptee might consider therapy:

  • Difficulty coping with daily stressors

  • Relationships (family, friends, romantic) have become strained

  • Struggling with coming out of “the fog”

  • Wanting to heal from emotional, physical neglect and/or abuse

  • Complexities of growing up as a different race/culture than your family

  • Lack of support from adoptive family and friends or feeling like “they just don’t get it”

  • Struggle with identity and “fitting in”

  • Searching for and reuniting with biological/first families

  • Your biological children trigger complex feelings and emotions

*Keep in mind that this list does not represent every reason an adoptee might consider counseling. It is healthy to talk with a professional about your personal concerns and goals.

Being a transracial, international adoptee, I understand the complex layers of adoption trauma and how difficult it can be to reach out for help and support. I aim to accept you as you are, normalize and validate the adoptee experience and encourage you to explore your identity and your story.

Adoptee Group Counseling

A safe space to explore the complex emotions related to adoption

Group therapy is a place to process how adoption has impacted your life.  It is a space to express conflicting feelings, to explore self doubt, and to connect with other adoptees that feel the same.

This group can help you explore who you are and how adoption has impacted your life choices, friendships, relationships, and identity. It is a place to process the struggles with your adoptive parents, first families, the complexities of reunion, and the day to day struggle of being an adoptee.

Through group therapy, adoptees will achieve the confidence to walk through life secure with who they are and their purpose.

**Group sessions are a low cost alternative for adoptees but do not skip on the therapeutic process. Not only will you grow and work on your goals you will be connected to others who are working on similar goals.**

Adoptee Support Group

AKA Adoptee Heart to Heart

Adoptee Heart to Heart is open to all adoptees. It is an online group where adoptees come together to feel less isolated in dealing with the complexities of the adoption journey.  If you’re an adoptee looking to have deeper conversations around topics specifically related to loss, grief, relationships, preverbal trauma, this group is for you.

My hope is that with community and connectedness, I can offer a space that will help adult adoptees feel comfortable holding some of the hardships they faced and currently facing.
